Global Liberal Studies (GLS) is an innovative, interdisciplinary bachelor’s program focused on understanding an interconnected world through critical and creative study of texts and contexts, movements of ideas and peoples, and material cultures across time and space. The curriculum features a globally infused core, discussion-based seminars, advanced language study, experiential learning, and significant study-away opportunities. The junior year centers on experiential learning with a semester-long internship or place-based independent study, and most students study away for the full year at one of nine NYU academic sites. All seniors complete an original-research or creative-production thesis. Students may pursue cross-school minors, a second major in CAS, combined GLS–Global Public Health, and dual BA/MA options with GSAS, GPH, and Wagner.
