NYU Steinhardt’s BA in Education Studies is an interdisciplinary undergraduate major that examines education in urban and international contexts and the relationship of education to society, politics, economics, and culture. The curriculum delivers a full liberal arts foundation (humanities, social sciences, science, quantitative reasoning) and develops skills in qualitative and quantitative research, policy analysis, advocacy, and social entrepreneurship. Experiential components include internships, study abroad/global experiences, and a senior capstone. Students choose one specialization: Education and Society, Global Education, or Impact and Entrepreneurship. The major prepares graduates for roles across government, nonprofits, and industry, and for graduate study in fields such as law, policy, social sciences, social work, education, and business; it does not lead to initial teacher certification.
