The Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science at Ohio State University College of Medicine is an honors undergraduate program designed for high-ability, highly motivated students planning for graduate or professional education in medicine, research, or healthcare. The curriculum integrates foundational science (biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, physiology), advanced biomedical electives, hands-on research starting in the first year, and interdisciplinary coursework in medical research methods, healthcare policy, critical analysis of literature, leadership, and translational science. Students engage in extensive research experiences, including up to 20 hours per week in a laboratory starting in their junior year. The program is highly selective, typically admitting about 25–26 freshmen annually. Graduates are well-prepared for entry into MD, PhD, and healthcare-related graduate programs, as well as careers in research, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, optometry, public health, and related fields.
