The BS in Environmental Science at the University of Chicago, offered by the Department of the Geophysical Sciences within the Division of the Physical Sciences, is designed for students interested in the intersection of biology, chemistry, and earth sciences. The program prepares graduates for interdisciplinary environmental science fields, covering biogeochemical cycles, environmental chemistry, microbiology, ecology, climate change, ocean and atmospheric chemistry and dynamics, and relevant aspects of economics and policy. Undergraduate research and participation in the Semester in Environmental Science at the Marine Biological Laboratory are strongly encouraged. The curriculum includes foundational science and mathematics coursework, followed by advanced electives, independent research opportunities, and specialized training in quantitative and analytical methods.
