The University of Chicago’s Bachelor of Arts in Political Science provides rigorous training in the concepts, theories, and methods of the discipline. It covers major subfields such as political theory, American politics, comparative politics, and international relations. Students develop analytical, writing, and research skills while exploring how politics shapes governance and society. The program prepares graduates for careers in public service, law, journalism, business, or for advanced graduate study. All students are required to take three of four foundational courses, a research methods course, six to eight additional Political Science electives (depending on the writing requirement chosen), and complete a research paper or thesis.
