The Bachelor of Arts in Race, Diaspora, and Indigeneity (RDI) at the University of Chicago's Division of the Social Sciences is an interdisciplinary major exploring how race, diaspora, and indigeneity have fundamentally shaped the modern world and contemporary thought, culture, and policy. Students critically examine social constructions of race, histories and dynamics of diaspora, and the formation and impacts of indigeneity. The program promotes community engagement and interdisciplinary inquiry in the arts and humanities, offering students flexibility to pursue a BA thesis or capstone project. The curriculum requires 13 courses, including foundational courses in key concepts, electives, and the option to undertake substantial research or community-oriented projects. The department emphasizes collaborative learning, critical thought, and engagement with social justice issues.
