The MPhil/MA by Research in Anthropology at the University of Exeter is a research-intensive, interdisciplinary degree hosted by the Department of Social and Political Sciences, Philosophy, and Anthropology. Students pursue independently supervised research in fields spanning classical and contemporary anthropology, benefiting from the University’s strengths in theory, methodology, and diverse thematic areas such as migration, health, forced displacement, food systems, Middle Eastern and transnational studies. The programme aims to develop advanced scholarly skills and typically culminates in a thesis based on original research. Students engage with internationally recognised staff and are integrated into a vibrant academic community, with opportunities for engagement with local and global challenges.
