The BA Comparative Literatures and Cultures program at the University of Exeter offers broad, global study of literature, film, and art, spanning from ancient to contemporary times. It focuses on intercultural understanding and textual analysis, with teaching from world-leading scholars specializing in regions such as the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia. The program emphasizes translation literacy, cultural mobility, and the political, social, and economic contexts of literary production. Notably, it adopts a decolonial perspective and encourages students to think critically about migration, the environment, gender, and sexuality. Students can choose from a variety of languages (including Mandarin) and may opt to study abroad or undertake work placements. The program prepares graduates for global careers in publishing, journalism, translation, education, and the arts.
