The UBC Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP) is a rigorous, two-year full-time, on-campus program designed to prepare advanced practice nurses for autonomous and collaborative roles in primary health care. Graduates are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic conditions across the lifespan, respond to urgent and emergent situations, and are eligible for registration as Nurse Practitioner (Family) in British Columbia. The program comprises 56 credits, including seminar coursework in advanced nursing theory, research, pharmacology, and health assessment, plus clinical placements coordinated across BC health authorities. The curriculum emphasizes evidence-informed decision-making and leadership in advancing Canadian primary care practice. Placements are managed to ensure equitable, high-quality experiential training. Students gain the ability to function competently as family nurse practitioners and are in high demand within both community and hospital settings.
