The Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources at UBC Faculty of Forestry offers students a flexible and hands-on education in managing and understanding natural resources. Students can choose from six majors—Bioeconomy Sciences and Technology, Conservation, Forest Management, Forest Operations, Forest Sciences, and Wood Products—to customize their degree based on career goals. The curriculum emphasizes foundational sciences, sustainability concepts, fieldwork, lab experience, co-op placements, and practical skills applicable to real-world environmental challenges. Majors are usually selected after the first year, with specific course and prerequisite requirements. Accredited by the Canadian Forestry Accreditation Board, graduates are eligible for Registered Professional Forester certification in BC, with opportunities for accreditation in the US pending. Employment rates for graduates are high, with alumni working in government, private industry, NGOs, or pursuing further studies.
