UBC’s Bachelor of Science in Applied Biology, offered by the Faculty of Land and Food Systems, focuses on the real-world application of life sciences to the management of land, animals, and food production. The program emphasizes hands-on, practical learning, critical thinking, sustainability, and ethics, preparing students to take leadership roles in sustainable food production, animal welfare, biodiversity management, and the responsible use of natural resources. Students can major in Applied Animal Biology (animal physiology, behavior, animal welfare, and ethics) or Sustainable Agriculture and Environment (food production, biodiversity, environmental sustainability, and food security). Honors options are available for motivated students.
