The Bachelor of Applied Science (Civil Engineering) program at UBC provides students with a solid foundation in basic sciences and specialized civil engineering skills. The curriculum begins with a common first year in engineering, followed by specialization in civil engineering from the second year onwards. Students study areas such as soil mechanics, foundation engineering, structural design, transportation systems, environmental engineering, and construction management. The program incorporates hands-on and project-based learning as well as opportunities for industry engagement, co-operative education, and access to Western Canada's largest engineering co-op program. Graduates are prepared for careers in the design, construction, and maintenance of public infrastructure and built environments, including roles such as design engineer, structural engineer, transportation engineer, geotechnical engineer, environmental consultant, and more.
