The MASc in Engineering Science at Simon Fraser University is a research-based graduate program within the Faculty of Applied Sciences. The program emphasizes original research culminating in a thesis, with considerably more emphasis on independent inquiry and project work than the course-oriented MEng. Students complete coursework (minimum 12 graduate units) with tailored selections based on research interests, and extensive thesis research. Research funding is typically provided for two years, with further support possible through competitive teaching assistantships, scholarships, or graduate fellowships. Students are expected to have a strong aptitude for research and analytical problem-solving in multidisciplinary engineering fields.
