The Master of Public Policy (MPP) at Simon Fraser University, offered by the School of Public Policy in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, is a two-year, full-time graduate program. The program trains students in both academic and applied dimensions of public policy, emphasizing skills for leadership in government, non-profit, and private sectors. The curriculum combines interdisciplinary academics—including policy analysis, economics, and research methods—with practical experience such as a paid co-op work placement in a government agency or policy organization. Students progress through a cohort model with intensive coursework in policy issues, economics, political science, and research, followed by electives and a capstone research project. Key focus areas include health care, housing, labour markets, economic inequality, Indigenous rights, and climate change.
