The Master of Science in Actuarial Science at Simon Fraser University's Faculty of Science offers advanced training in actuarial topics, statistical methods, and their applications. The program consists of 36 units, including a 6-unit project and 30 units of coursework (at least 24 at the graduate level). Students gain exposure to actuarial methodology, participate in research, and can obtain work experience through the co-operative education program. The program prepares students for careers in industry, government, consulting, and research, and also serves as foundational training for Ph.D. studies. SFU's actuarial science faculty are internationally recognized, with the department ranked among the top non-business school actuarial science research units in North America.
