The Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies at Simon Fraser University, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, is a new interdisciplinary undergraduate program launched in partnership with the Faculty of Environment. Students build foundational knowledge of urbanization, urban change, and city life, then select one of two specialized streams: Urban Change (through the Faculty of Environment) or Urban Studies (through the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences). The program emphasizes real-world skills and analysis to address issues of gentrification, housing, migration, climate change, policy, and urban governance; it culminates in a collective capstone project in the final year. Graduates gain skills for roles in urban planning, land use, policy analysis, government, market research, and sustainability, or for further graduate study.
