The Master of Education (MEd) in School and Clinical Child Psychology (SCCP) at the University of Alberta is a thesis-based program designed to provide rigorous training in the theory, research, and professional practice of child psychology. The program is built on a scientist-practitioner model, offering students in-depth knowledge and hands-on training for careers in school, clinical, and community settings working with children, adolescents, and families. Coursework covers assessment, intervention, consultation, research methods, statistics, and ethical issues. The program is intended to prepare students for doctoral studies and is not in itself accredited for practice as a psychologist; graduates are highly encouraged to pursue the PhD for full professional credentialing in Canada. Admission is competitive and focused on developing the next generation of professional and academic leaders in educational psychology.
