The MSc in Global Health at the University of Alberta is a thesis-based graduate program designed to equip students to become skilled public health practitioners and researchers with a global focus. Core areas cover infectious disease control, maternal and child health, nutrition, non-communicable diseases, trauma, mental health, migration, and environmental health. Students complete foundational and specialization courses in public health, epidemiology, and case studies in international health, alongside electives in biostatistics or qualitative methods. The program requires a research-based thesis focused on issues relevant to low- or middle-income country settings, with the expectation of a publishable paper. Graduates are prepared for doctoral studies and research-related positions in government, academia, international agencies, NGOs, and the private sector.
