The MSc in General Public Health at the University of Alberta School of Public Health is a research-intensive, thesis-based graduate program. Its aim is to enhance students' research knowledge and skills in broad areas of public health not covered by specialist MSc thesis programs. The curriculum consists of core coursework (e.g., Foundations of Public Health Research, Epidemiology Methods 1), a minimum of 12 credits of electives tailored to the student's thesis topic, and an independent research thesis. The program is particularly well-suited to students seeking flexibility and interdisciplinary research opportunities around emerging public health issues. Graduates are prepared for doctoral-level work and research-focused careers in public health.
