The Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of Education Combined Degree at the University of Alberta is a highly structured, five-year program designed to provide students with the minimum requirements for both the BSc and BEd degrees as well as interim Alberta teacher certification. The program prepares students for secondary school teaching careers (junior high and high school) by allowing them to select a major and minor from Biological Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, or Physical Sciences. Students spend the first two years in the Faculty of Science and the final three years in the Faculty of Education. By graduation, students are equipped to teach science disciplines, develop pedagogical skills, and meet certification requirements for Alberta teachers. Admission is competitive and requires application to the Faculty of Science as the entry point.
