The Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology at the University of Alberta explores the complex relationships between people and their environments—social, natural, cultural, political, and material. Students can major in Family Science (parent-child relations, family dynamics, aging, diversity, finance) or Clothing, Textiles & Material Culture (fashion, product/interior design, textile history, global sustainability). The curriculum emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, notably through a mandatory 200-hour practicum placement. Graduates are prepared for careers as professional human ecologists, child and youth coordinators, fashion marketers, interior decorators, policy analysts, and many other people- and environment-focused roles. The program is delivered on campus at the North Campus, Edmonton.
