The University of Alberta Faculty of Education offers a comprehensive Bachelor of Education (BEd) with multiple routes, including Elementary and Secondary Education, Aboriginal Teacher Education Program (ATEP), and several combined degree options (Arts, Native Studies, Kinesiology, Science, Music, Augustana). The Elementary Education program prepares students to teach all elementary subjects (Kindergarten to Grade 6), while Secondary Education allows for subject specializations for Grades 7-12. ATEP focuses on improving educational outcomes for Aboriginal students and incorporates Indigenous perspectives, offering on-campus, distance, and community-based cohort options. Combined degrees allow students to earn two bachelor’s degrees within five years, starting with foundational studies in a partner faculty and finishing with two years in Education. Graduates qualify for Alberta teacher certification.
