The Bachelor of Science in Materials Engineering program at the University of Alberta is the only program of its kind in western Canada, training students to produce, process, and manufacture both raw materials and finished products. The curriculum emphasizes the relationships among structure, properties, processing, and performance of materials, including metallic, polymeric, ceramic, composite, and electronic materials. Students can select specialized electives in areas such as mineral processing, extractive metallurgy, polymer materials, and functional materials. The program is designed to provide hands-on experience, research participation, and strong industry links. Graduates are sought after in industries ranging from energy and mining to consumer products and biomedical applications.
