The University of Alberta's Faculty of Engineering will offer the Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering as a 5-year co-op degree starting Fall 2025. The program is designed to provide a strong foundation in mathematics and science with specialized skills in mechanical, electrical, control, and computer engineering. Students will participate in hands-on, experiential learning including project-based coursework every year, access to a robotics playground, and significant co-op work experience in industry. Graduates will be equipped to work in fields such as robotics, automation, embedded devices, autonomous systems, sensors, controls, and advanced manufacturing, with employment opportunities across industries like automotive, aerospace, energy, agriculture, health care, and technology.
