The Bachelor of Science (Psychology) program at University of Alberta’s Faculty of Science focuses on understanding the brain, behavior, perception, learning, cognition, and the biological foundations of psychology. The program is designed for those interested in exploring the scientific and quantitative aspects of psychology, integrating core science courses (biology, chemistry, mathematical sciences) with a comprehensive study of psychological processes. Students in this major will have broad flexibility in their course choices and may shape their degree through electives, minors, or double majors. Key areas of study include cognitive psychology, abnormal psychology, behavior modification, and research methods. Upon completion, graduates are prepared for careers in scientific research, mental health, or further graduate studies. Research opportunities and an honours stream are available for higher academic pursuits.
