The Microbiology and Molecular Biotechnology Specialization at McGill University's Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences offers interdisciplinary training in pure and applied microbiology integrated with molecular biotechnology. The program focuses on microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, viruses, protozoa, and parasites, and their critical roles in the environment and living systems. Students gain expertise in environmental microbiology, molecular genetics, microbial pathogenesis, genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, and biotechnology. This specialization is taken along with a major—typically Life Sciences (Biological and Agricultural)—in the Bachelor of Science (Agricultural and Environmental Sciences). The curriculum prepares students for careers in life sciences, health science, biotechnology, agricultural science, and for graduate study.
