The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) at McGill University's Faculty of Education prepares students to become specialist teachers of English as a Second Language for elementary and secondary schools. The program features a combination of academic coursework covering linguistics, language acquisition, social, cultural, literary, and psychological perspectives, along with extensive school-based field experiences. Students will graduate with both theoretical and practical expertise in teaching English as a second language and are recommended to the Quebec Ministry of Education for provincial teacher certification. The study is conducted full time over four years, starting in the Fall semester. Students will have opportunities for field experience in French environment schools, so comfort in French-speaking contexts is recommended.
