The Bachelor of Engineering (Software Engineering, Co-op) at McGill University's Faculty of Engineering is a structured undergraduate program designed to develop core competencies in designing, building, and validating complex software systems. Starting in 2021-2022, all new students enter this mandatory co-op (co-operative education) program. Students apply their academic learning during four paid work terms, gaining 16 months of professional experience before graduation. The curriculum covers foundational and advanced topics in software and computer engineering, including model-driven systems engineering, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, software validation, and more. The program leverages McGill’s strong faculty expertise, research, and industry connections, and culminates in a capstone design project and technical electives. Co-op students benefit from a dedicated advisor and career support, enhancing their employment prospects in diverse high-tech industries like video games, web development, robotics, medtech, automotive, and aerospace.
