The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at McGill University's School of Social Work is a 90-credit undergraduate program, typically completed in three years of full-time study. The program prepares students with integrative knowledge in social work history, theory, research, practice, and policy. Training is provided in methods of working with individuals, families, groups, and communities. It also builds awareness on diversity, social policy, ethics, and professional identity. The BSW enables graduates to pursue advanced graduate studies or professional practice (noting that practicing in Quebec requires demonstrated French proficiency). The curriculum follows national accreditation standards (CASWE), with 63 credits in required SWRK social work courses (including field practice), 9 credits in social work complementary courses, 12 credits in complementary courses outside social work, and 6 elective credits. All courses are delivered in-person on the McGill downtown campus.
