The Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) at the Weitzman School of Design, University of Pennsylvania, is a professionally accredited program designed for students pursuing careers in landscape architecture and related environmental design fields. The program offers two primary study tracks: a three-year path for students without prior education in landscape architecture or architecture, and a two-year advanced standing track for those with an accredited undergraduate degree in those disciplines. Curriculum focuses on visual and manual acuity, spatial and scalar design, site-specific strategies, critical and imaginative thinking for alternative futures, and interventions in ecological and cultural systems. The department also provides dual degree options and certificates, such as Urban Design. Students engage in research, studio projects, and advanced theory to prepare for contemporary challenges in landscape architecture.
