The Nanotechnology MSE at University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Science is an interdisciplinary graduate program aimed at developing technical and managerial leaders for the semiconductor and nanotechnology industries. The program emphasizes hands-on laboratory experiences, flexible course selection spanning engineering, science, business, and law, and opportunities for independent research. Students receive practical cleanroom experience, with curriculum highlights in quantum technology, nanofabrication, solid-state devices, and MEMS/NEMS systems. The program is hosted by the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering as of 2025. Please note: the Nanotechnology MSE will no longer accept new applications from Fall 2024, with the final cohort graduating by 2026. Prospective students are encouraged to apply to the Electrical Engineering master’s program, where a similar nanotechnology curriculum is available.
