The Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania's College of Arts and Sciences is a STEM-designated program designed to provide students with an understanding of how large-scale social phenomena such as class, race, and gender inequality shape individual experiences and society as a whole. The curriculum combines conceptual foundations with methodological tools of social science research, including ethnography, social statistics, and demographic methods. Students select at least one area of concentration from options such as Applied Research, Cities and Markets, Culture and Diversity, and others. The program prepares graduates for a wide range of careers in law, healthcare, consulting, data analysis, social research, administration, social work, demography, and government.
