The University of Calgary Faculty of Law offers a course-based Master of Laws (LLM) program for graduates seeking advanced legal education. The program consists of a research methodologies course, five additional law courses, and culminates in the completion of a major research paper (50-60 pages, 15,000–18,000 words), supervised by a faculty member. Students may opt to specialize in Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law, but this is not mandatory. The major research paper requires extensive research and critical evaluation of a legal area or problem.
