The University of Calgary's Master of Social Work (MSW) is a nationally-accredited graduate program preparing students for advanced professional practice in social work. Students may specialize in Clinical Social Work Practice, International and Community Development, or Leadership in the Human Services. The course-based MSW typically requires direct practice coursework, field placements, and in-person or virtual residencies in Calgary or Edmonton. Non-BSW applicants enter through a foundation year before commencing specialization courses. The program is designed for individuals pursuing leadership, advocacy, and advanced practice roles in health, community, education, and justice sectors.
