The York University Master of Education (MEd) program in the Faculty of Education is designed for students wishing to deepen their understanding of educational theory, research, and practice. The program offers flexible pathways: thesis, major research project, and coursework-only streams. It attracts students from a variety of educational backgrounds and does not require a prior Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree. It does not lead to teacher certification. Special cohort options (such as Urban Indigenous Education) are periodically available. Core areas include critical analysis of educational issues, research methodologies, and exploration of areas such as language, culture, and teaching.
