The Concurrent Bachelor of Education at York University allows students to earn both a Bachelor of Education (BEd) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree simultaneously. Students are co-registered in the Faculty of Education and in Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, following a carefully structured program that prepares them for Ontario teacher certification. The program includes academic coursework in education, teaching practicums in K-12 schools, and education research. Students can train to teach at Primary/Junior (JK–Grade 6), Junior/Intermediate (Grade 4–10), or Intermediate/Senior (Grade 7–12) levels. Students begin with core education courses (such as 'Rethinking Schooling') in their first year, progressively integrating more teacher preparation components into their study timeline. The BEd is awarded only in conjunction with successful completion of the undergraduate BA degree. Completion of this program leads to Ontario College of Teachers certification eligibility.
