The Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media (BA) at Lassonde School of Engineering, York University, is Ontario’s only undergraduate program that integrates art, computer science, and engineering. Offered collaboratively with the School of Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD), it equips students to create engaging, interactive digital objects and experiences such as animations, 3D simulations, games, and immersive media, blending imagery, sound, and advanced digital technology. Students begin with an 18-month common core curriculum covering areas like media signal processing, programming for digital media, and interactive design, before selecting one of three specializations: Digital Media Development, Digital Media Arts, or Digital Media Game Arts. The curriculum emphasizes both technical and creative skills, such as virtual reality user interfaces, graphics, and creative production, supported by coursework in aesthetic and cultural theory. Opportunities for internship and portfolio development are available to prepare graduates for dynamic digital careers.
