York University's Kinesiology & Health Science program is one of the largest and most highly regarded in Canada, integrating academic theory, laboratory, tutorials, and physical activity practica. The curriculum covers aging, anatomy, athletic therapy, epidemiology, ergonomics, health promotion, physiology and metabolism, teaching/coaching, sociocultural and policy perspectives, and sport psychology. Students participate in required core courses and can choose from over 100 electives and specialized certificate options (e.g., Athletic Therapy, Fitness Assessment, Social Justice in Sport). The program features hands-on experiential learning, research opportunities, and York’s distinctive Integrated Physical Activity for Life (IPAL) courses. All students gain theoretical, analytical, and applied skills for advancement in health, education, or clinical careers. The BA and BSc options allow students to pursue broader interests in arts or sciences, respectively. The degree is CCUPEKA accredited and recognized by the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario, supporting eligibility for the provincial Registered Kinesiologist (RKin) exam.
