The Honours Environmental Sciences program at McMaster University’s Faculty of Science offers a strong foundation in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics, complemented by advanced courses and experiential learning in environmental and earth sciences. Program themes include Aqueous Environmental Geochemistry, Earth Sciences, Environmental Hydrology and Climate, Environmental Policy, and GIS/Spatial Analysis. Students undertake core courses, research design, and field methods, and can tailor their upper-year electives to align with their interests or career aspirations. The program integrates hands-on fieldwork, laboratory analysis, GIS, and scientific communication. It prepares graduates for diverse careers and further study in the environmental sector but does not meet the PGeo requirements for professional geoscientist registration in Ontario.
