The Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at Newcastle University (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences) is a three-year, full-time undergraduate program starting in September 2025. The degree equips students with a strong foundation in contemporary sociological theory and research. It explores major contemporary societal challenges, such as multiculturalism, social inequality, British identity, refugees, and social change. Academic staff are actively engaged in leading sociological research, and students can tailor their studies with a wide range of optional modules, including childhood, race/ethnicity, class, sexuality, and policing. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking, analytical, research, and communication skills for diverse careers and postgraduate study. The program offers placement and study abroad opportunities, a vibrant student community, and a focus on employability.
