The Master of Education (MEd) in Social, Cultural and Foundational Studies at the University of Victoria offers advanced study into educational institutions, social systems, and foundational theory. The program’s core is the historical, philosophical, and sociological analysis of educational phenomena and societal issues, designed for graduates who want to deeply understand educational systems and their social contexts, including topics such as Indigenous education, moral education, multiculturalism, policy studies, and social justice in education. It consists of approximately 7 courses plus a project, typically for working educators or those interested in research and educational leadership. The curriculum is multidisciplinary and may be pursued full or part time, with some flexibility for course delivery formats.
