The Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Studies at the University of Victoria (UVic) Faculty of Humanities is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program centered on Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and learning. It emphasizes hands-on, experiential, and land-based learning, with required field-based coursework. The curriculum incorporates Indigenous knowledge and perspectives across historical, political, social, and cultural contexts, with a focus on fostering intercultural understanding and building respectful, productive relationships with Indigenous communities. Students must complete upper-level coursework in diverse breadth areas and engage in interdisciplinary approaches, preparing graduates for careers with Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations and communities.
