The University of Ottawa Faculty of Arts offers the Bachelor of Arts (BA), a flexible undergraduate program with a wide spectrum of specializations, including—but not limited to—English, Visual Arts, Theatre, Geography, Communication, and Art History. Students may pursue a single major, double major, or combine a major with a minor. The program emphasizes both practical and theoretical learning through class-based education, studio work (for Visual Arts), and access to Ottawa's rich cultural resources, such as art galleries and museums. Many programs support experiential learning, and study may be undertaken in either English or French, with immersion options available. The BA is designed to foster intellectual inquiry, critical thinking, creativity, and preparation for diverse careers in the arts, education, communications, cultural policy, and many other fields. Visual Arts and related majors have additional practical components, requiring engagement with various artistic media and contemporary creation.
