Dalhousie University’s Master of Arts (History) is a thesis-based graduate research program, designed to provide advanced expertise in historical scholarship across a wide thematic and geographical range. Students undertake two four-month courses, a seminar on historical methods, and then focus on thesis research and writing, typically producing a thesis of 120–140 pages. The department fosters close faculty mentorship and encourages engagement in both academic and professional development. Graduates pursue academic, heritage, public service, and research careers.
