Dalhousie University's Bachelor of Community Design (BCD) is a comprehensive undergraduate program in the Faculty of Architecture and Planning. The BCD equips students to analyze and design sustainable communities, addressing issues such as food security, just cities, sustainable transportation, and affordable housing. The curriculum integrates lectures, seminars, and studio courses to develop strong planning, design, and communication skills, supported by real-world, hands-on learning opportunities. Students can customize their degree and choose between majors in Environmental Planning, Urban Design and Planning, or a Double Major with Sustainability. The Honours option (four years) is accredited and recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners, providing an internship in the final year for professional experience. Graduates contribute to sustainable urban systems, heritage neighbourhoods, and community empowerment.
