Dalhousie University's Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary program housed in the Faculty of Science. The program addresses contemporary issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and sustainability. It integrates research and methodologies from multiple scientific disciplines alongside political, cultural, ethical, and historical perspectives. Students begin with foundational courses in environmental science and expand their studies through hands-on fieldwork, electives, and cooperative (co-op) placements. The curriculum covers environmental challenges, resources, ecosphere, sustainability, environmental law, and human health, with sample courses including Foundations of Environmental Science, Environmental Analytics, Writing for the Sciences, Field Methods in Environmental Science, and Environmental Impact Assessment. The program aims to prepare graduates for roles in science, business, government, law, journalism, and further study at the graduate level.
