Dalhousie University’s BSc (Medical Sciences) is a four-year (120-credit) undergraduate program offering a broad and interdisciplinary education in medical and biomedical sciences. Students are introduced to foundational subjects including biology, chemistry, mathematics, statistics, psychology, microbiology, physiology, epidemiology, neuroscience, health ethics, and the sociology of health. As the program progresses, students engage with advanced topics such as anatomy, pathology, pharmacology, and bioethics, and take 'selective' courses to either concentrate in specific fields or prepare for professional schools. Graduates will have a strong background suitable for medically-related professional programs, graduate studies, or employment in biomedical and healthcare industries. Optional pathways include Honours (with research) or a case-based capstone project in the fourth year. Typical first-year courses include Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Psychology, and a required Writing course (with multiple options, advised to take English). Class size is capped at 120 students per cohort, taught across various faculties.
