The MA program at the Faculty of Arts & Science, University of Toronto, is a course-based master's degree offered across a wide range of disciplines such as Art History, Political Science, History, English, and others within the humanities and social sciences. The program typically requires completion of seminars (e.g., six courses in Art History). It is designed to prepare graduates for curatorial work, research-driven careers, or further doctoral study. Most programs do not require a thesis, and students are not assigned a research supervisor for the MA. Some departments may require a reading knowledge of a language other than English. The program offers both full-time (8 months) and limited part-time (up to 3 years) study modes.
