The Master of Social Work (MSW) program at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto, enables graduate students to develop advanced competencies for practice with children and their families at various levels of intervention: individual, family, systems, community, program, and policy development. The 'Children and Their Families' field prepares students to use ecological and developmental frameworks, apply trauma-informed approaches, and deliver culturally responsive, evidence-based interventions. The curriculum integrates research, critical analysis, and practice-oriented coursework. Required courses include research and theory in child/family social work, specialized clinical interventions, social policy, and practicums. Students complete a total of 8.5 full course equivalents (FCEs) over two years for the standard program; the advanced standing route is available for qualified BSW holders.
