The Specialist Program in Conservation and Biodiversity provides a strong foundation in how ecology and evolution shape organismal traits, communities, and ecosystems. The program emphasizes understanding and solving contemporary challenges such as habitat destruction, invasive species, and climate change. Students learn to apply ecological and evolutionary principles to predict and understand the outcomes of interactions at various biological levels and are prepared for careers in environmental policy, consulting, research, non-governmental or governmental agencies, and graduate study. Diverse C-level and D-level advanced courses are required, covering topics like field ecology, evolutionary genetics, conservation biology, tropical biodiversity, and environmental toxicology.
